Add campaign parameters (source, medium, campaign name) to your URLs so you can track where traffic comes from in Google Analytics — normalised so reports do not split.
UTM parameters are tags you add to a link so Google Analytics can tell you where a visitor came from — which campaign, which channel, which post. Without them, most traffic collapses into a vague 'direct' or 'referral' bucket.
This builder assembles a clean, correctly-encoded UTM link and lowercases the values, because 'Facebook' and 'facebook' otherwise split into two rows in your reports.
utm_source (where — e.g. facebook), utm_medium (how — e.g. cpc, email), and utm_campaign (which push — e.g. diwali_sale) are the essentials. utm_term and utm_content are optional, for ad keywords and A/B variants.
Analytics treats utm_source=Facebook and utm_source=facebook as different sources, fragmenting your reports. Keeping everything lowercase with underscores keeps each campaign as one clean row.
